The PopMedNet ecosystem is made up of more than 100 institutions, including some of the largest national insurers, hospitals and research centers in the United States. These Institution are organized into networks with different research goals. Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Institute Department of Population Medicine acts as the coordinating center for the Sentinel PopMedNet Network. 

Together these institutions provide health data on over 60 million Americans and are used for a broad array of public health purposes, including medical product safety and effectiveness, public health surveillance, observational studies, and clinical trials.
