History

Based in Boston, the Therapeutics Research and Infectious Disease Epidemiology (TIDE) group resides within the Department of Population Medicine (DPM) of the Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Institute (HPHCI), an appointing department of Harvard Medical School. HPHCI’s mission is to improve health care delivery and population health through innovative research and teaching. HPHCI has developed several novel software applications to support our work in healthcare research and public health surveillance activities. The most prominent of the software tools developed by TIDE is PopMedNet.

TIDE investigators pioneered the development of PopMedNet and associated analytic methods that enable owners of healthcare data to collaborate in creation of very large populations without having to share individual-level data.

Since its inception, TIDE has grown PMN to a mature, full-featured open source application that powers several distributed health data networks.
